At this time one year ago, we had 16 people on our core team. Accounting for confirmed arrivals and departures, we now have 29 people on our core team. Overall, we think we’ve managed to grow the team rapidly while also raising our bar for new hires.

Events enable attendees to make new connections, learn about core concepts, share and discuss new research, and coordinate on projects. This post sums up our work on events over the third quarter of 2021.

We help EA group organizers by advising them, providing resources and funding, and creating online spaces where they can share resources and support each other. The following overview describes support we provide across university groups, city/national groups, and our virtual programs platform.

Over the past year, we’ve doubled down on the strategy we set out last year. The key metrics we were targeting increased significantly (often more than doubling), and we made many strong hires to nearly double our headcount.

The Effective Altruism Forum aims to be the central place for collaborative discussion about how to do the most good. This post summarizes our growth over the last year.

After we finalized our new leadership in late 2019, one of our major goals for 2020 was developing our strategy.

There are many things in EA community building that we are not doing. We think some of these things could be impactful if well-executed, even though we don't have the resources to take them on. Therefore, we want to let people know what we're not doing, so that they have a better sense of how neglected those areas are.

This is an update from the Centre for Effective Altruism on our work in the fourth quarter of 2020. Most of this information was not included in our annual review, which we began to draft in October.
