After we finalized our new leadership in late 2019, one of our major goals for 2020 was developing our strategy.

We'd like to share a summary of our current version. We expect to continue developing our strategy over time. The current version is a medium-sized change from what we were doing in 2019, and a more major change from our approach in 2018 and earlier (read more about our history).1

Note that this strategy is where CEA is focusing, not where we think the entire effective altruism movement should focus.

We expect to maintain or expand our current support (e.g. for group organizers, the EA Forum, and events). Over the next year, we are particularly focused on expanding our support for groups, especially university groups.

Please see our 2021 plans for more details on what this strategy means for our programs in the next year.

Footnotes

  1. Relative to our pre-2018 strategy, we are more focused on groups, less focused on identifying and supporting exceptional individuals, and more focused on targeting promising populations.
