Expression of Interest: People Operations Specialist

We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to build systems to support CEA’s staff, and hire excellent new staff.

The People Operations Team are responsible for finding and onboarding excellent staff. We are also responsible for helping staff flourish by supporting professional development and training, running staff events, and generally creating a supportive culture conducive to impactful work.

We’re looking for someone with experience thinking strategically about recruitment and/or staff support and would be excited to work as a value multiplier for community building work. If you have worked in operations and enjoyed the more staff-focused tasks, people operations work might be a good fit for you.


As this is an Expression of Interest, we are less confident than usual about what your precise responsibilities would be, but they would probably include:

  • Building and managing a system to coordinate candidate outreach
  • Recruitment support including tracking candidate information, improving recruitment systems and materials, and supporting hiring managers during candidate evaluation
  • Project management for other internal systems projects
  • Working with the People Operations Team and the Executive Office to design strategies to improve staff experience and organisational culture


We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has an in-depth knowledge of effective altruism
  • Has experience in one or more relevant areas including: recruitment, outreach, professional development, onboarding.

Salary, benefits, and location

This is a full-time remote role. We prefer applicants who are able to work in time zones between US Pacific Time and CET.

Salary for candidates in Oxford is £56,600.00-£68,300.00 depending on experience, with some flexibility above this range for an exceptional candidate. Salaries for candidates who prefer to work remotely will be decided based on location and skills. (As rough calibration points, the salary range for San Francisco is $105,700-$128,900, and for Detroit is $86,100-$105,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.)
